PAW needs some TLC

Sherman Oaks, CA - An important organization in the adult film community for the past 12 years may be on its last ropes. P.A.W. (Protecting Adult Welfare) has been having trouble raising funds to keep the doors open for the performers in the industry, in need of counseling and other emotional needs services offered at the office.
24 hr. Peer Counseling Helpline
1 (800) 506-4999
You can call ANY TIME for Help, Advice or Support
Do you need someone to talk to about...Depression, Drug Problems, Stress, Relationships, Sexual Abuse, Self-Esteem? Utilizing a network of telephone help lines, peer counseling sessions, appropriate community referrals, specialized enlightenment seminars and practical experience services, counselors can help you. P.A.W. has been created to preserve the family of X from within and you are an extremely important part of the family. With all of the tragedies this past year or two: hurricanes, tsunamis, and so on and so on. Charitable contributions to PAW have dwindled. Cable producer, Scorching Images, is one of the main supporters currently keeping them afloat.
I have been in the office on a regular basis and have seen the phones light up and the many performers calling and/or stopping by asking for help with something in their lives or just calling to talk to someone about their problems when no one else will.
It kind of shocks me how the industry really doesn't care, I might even say, hate the talent and performers in the biz. I was on the floor of this year's major adult convention in Las Vegas, while walking by a major company's booth and overheard on the phone a CEO talking to someone, saying, "Fuck that bitch! If she doesn't come down from her room to sign, I'll get a month's worth a free scenes out of her." At another booth I heard, "This girl is so hot. Her parents are helping us get her into the biz after she gets out of high school and turns 18." These are the people that run this business.
So I am making a challenge for everyone in the industry, talent, crewmembers, fans and most of all...the big wig companies! If everyone just gave $1 a month, that's 12 fucking dollars a year, P.A.W. can stay open to help the talent. You give more than that to some of these other organizations (that aren't even tax deductible) in the industry that have done little for the talent and only helped out the big companies with pushing out more product and less money for the talent. I have been writing reviews on sets where the talent was paid with a breakfast sandwich for their scene.
So the ball is in your court. $12 check payable to "Protecting Adult Welfare Foundation"
and send it to:
P.A.W. Foundation
17400 Marilla Street
Northridge, CA 91325
I know, I know, some of the fans are saying, "Why should I give a fuck about those bitches. I love seeing them get a shot of cum in their eye and a bloody gaping asshole!"
Well for you "Fans" I offer you some compensation for your tax-deductible donation. Not only can you write it off and just in time for taxes I might add, but I will offer you the following for your donations:
Mail me your check made out to Protecting Adult Welfare Foundation and send it to:
Scorching Images
P.O. Box 501
North Hollywood, CA 91603
Attn: PAW
And include a Self-Addressed Stamped Large envelope, (two stamps on it should be correct for postage and big enough for a 8"x10" photo)
And for your $12 donation, I will include an autographed cutout from a men's magazine or industry publication from one of the big starlets from the 90's.
Those were the best years in porn with some of the most beautiful women in erotica. I can't give you a specific starlet, but if you want to include some names, I'll do my best to accommodate, but it's ultimately my choice.
Hey, it's fucking free with an appraised value of over $15.
For a donation of $25, I'll include the above PLUS an autographed "slick", a mini poster of the movie the talent was in. That's an appraised value for both at over $35. Add an extra stamp on that envelope.
For a donation of $50, I'll send the above PLUS an autographed 8"x10" glossy photo! These are gorgeous photos signed by the starlets and some are one of kind and the talent is no longer in the business or has moved away. An appraised value of over $100. Better add another stamp on that envelope.
Now for the true fans, I will offer the following for a donation of $100. All of the above PLUS a RARE signed 4"x6" photo from the Vivid Video adult superstar Celeste! When she retired, she came to me and gave the last of her collectibles from her fan club. I have held onto them in storage, not knowing what to do with them. Now is your chance to own a piece of history. She is not coming back into the industry and these are now worth something to the true fan.
Now, if anyone steps up and donates more to PAW, (Around $200) I will include a signed 8"x10" photo card of the legendary Savannah! I only have like 3 or 4 of these left, so those will be a special item for a fan and are priceless!
So anyone reading this who can just help with that $1 a month and be a supporter of PAW, then my challenge has been met.
Happy wanking!

Is PAW about to go the way of the water buffalo?

I received a heads-up from Maxxx Beaver today. Maxxx tells me that PAW (Protecting Adult Welfare) is having some financial difficulties.
It seems PAW needs $6,000 for its annual operating expenses. Yeah, you read it right: Just six-thousand lousy bucks! That's right, a meager $6K to operate for an entire year!
But guess what? While there seems to be an awful lot of people in this TEN BILLION DOLLAR (plus or minus a billion or so) industry who are up in arms over this dead water buffalo thing, none of them, to my knowledge, seems too concerned with the potential death of an organization that has, as its overall mission: "Improving the quality of life for the workers in the adult entertainment industry - actors, actresses, dancers, directors, writers, photographers, technicians, retail and warehouse employees - as well as improving an understanding of our industry by the public at large."
Hello???
Anyone out there???
Anyone notice the score here? Water Buffalo-One, PAW-Zero! (At least in terms of giving a shit.)
So what's more important? Water buffalos or the people who make this industry happen?
You can answer that question by getting behind PAW and helping out. I'm pledging $50 in the name of my new, just-recently-started-business, Bad Girl Enterprises.
And let me make a little observation here: Fifty bucks ain't much. But to my new, just-starting-out, working-on-a-tight-budget, got-lots-of-bills-to-pay company, its more than lunch money. But to some of you--and you know who I'm talking about Mister Big-Shot Porn Moguls and Entrepeneurs and Publishing Empires and Mr. and Ms. Porn Talent--some of you could lay out ten times that...make that one hundred times my measly fifty bucks and not even notice its been ponied up. And the rest of you can certainly ante up $25 or $50 or $100 or more.
So c'mon everyone, show that you give a shit about people--the people you make your living from and with--as much as you do water buffalos. Let's not let PAW meet the same fate as that water buffalo. Because if we do, we're as pathetic and irresponsible a group as most of our foes think we are.
P.S. You other sites should be picking this story up and running with it. And I'm not talking about re-printing what I have to say. Say something for yourselves. As my friend and former-XXX-photographer, Rick Christmas, used to say: "Do Something!"
Protecting Adult Welfare Needs Cash
By Martin Murphy
Wednesday, May 25, 2005
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -- Protecting Adult Welfare (PAW), the philanthropic organization founded by adult industry veteran Bill Margold, is soliciting donations for operating expenses.
"We received $6,000 a year from [former VCA head] Russ Hampshire," Margold told XBiz, "but that is no more. We need to pay rent."
PAW receives tax-deductible contributions as a non-profit institution. Margold said most of the donations are small and do not make up for the loss of Hampshire's gift.
PAW was founded following the death of adult star Savannah. Also known as Shannon Wilsey, she allegedly committed suicide on July 11, 1994. Margold said that porn actors are just "overage juvenile delinquents" and that he created the organization, which he compared to the Beatles' AppleCorp, as a way for adult stars to get emergency relief.
Margold admitted that he might be the reason people do not donate as much to PAW. "If you ask 100 people what they thought of me," he said, "50 would say they loved me and 50 would say they hated me. And of the fifty who hated me, no one would be able to say why."
Margold has had public feuds with many members of the adult industry, some of whom could explain their distaste for him at length, but only off the record. The general consensus, however, is that Margold is a benefit to the industry and his intentions are sound.
"We run free ads for PAW, and frankly, when all is said and done, I'm on the Margold side," AVN President Paul Fishbein told XBiz. "He and I haven't always gotten along but we agree on the major points: the First Amendment and better conditions for the talent."
After the annual Bowling for Scholars event on May 29 (the proceeds go to schoolchildren), Margold will help produce the X-Rated Critics' Organization Awards on June 2.
"We try to give comfort where we can," Margold said. "We are always trying to watch the kids."
"I've been in just about every business there is, and I've never met a man that is as helpful, caring and diligent within his profession as Bill Margold," said Maxxx Beaver, who joined the industry after supplying a lot of it with DVD boxcovers, and has sinced financed 12 adult films in Canada and the United States. "Bill introduced me around."
Margold does not draw a salary from PAW and is quick to point out that many of the contributions the organization makes to performers are anonymous and are never paid back. He credits himself with the "messy" birth of Sharon Mitchell's Adult Industry Medical in 1998, and displays a business card that reads, "God created man, Margold created himself."
"Bill has been through everything and when you strip down the bravado, he's a good guy," Fishbein said. "The industry is better having Margold."
"Bill Margold is a legend in this business," Beaver told XBiz, "and has a huge ego which is rightfully earned. People can't stand being in the presence of him, because he takes the spotlight wherever he goes."
"Like an old bull," Beaver continued. "He's the big daddy of the business, and all the young bulls have to give him respect or get the horns!"
Margold is seeking to recoup the $6,000 loss, but wouldn't be averse to taking more. "PAW provides stability just by people knowing it's here," he said, citing its peer counseling services, its 24-hour hotline and its lecture series, "PAW University."

I received an email this A.M. from Robert "Mister Rogers" Lombard-- the man, the myth, the guy who owns and operates Creative Image Management and Casting. (CIMAC if you're into acronyms.)
Robert, it seems, was so moved by my emotional appeal to help PAW (Protecting Adult Welfare) with their financial needs, that he's pledged $50. (On top of the $50 I pledged.)
Here's Mr. R's tears-of-concern-stained email:
"Jimmy-- Robert Lombard of Creative Image Management and Casting, Ltd. DONATES $50.00 - Check will be mailed today! -Robert "Mr. Rogers" Lombard"
Damn! Can you feel the love? I can.
So let's see, PAW needs six grand. I'm gonna send $50 and Lombard's gonna send $50. So that's... uhhh... $100. Hey! Piece of cake! All PAW needs is another $5900. Shit. That shouldn't be too hard. That's like another 118 people from the thousands of people working the MULTI-BILLION $$$ jiz biz to each send fifty bucks!
No problemo, right?
Time will tell.
P.S. If you're wondering what the deal is with this pic of Lombard I posted, I snapped it about a year ago when he came over to my place with all kinds of facial creams and ointments and skin cleansers and oatmeal and avocado masks and he was trying to do a gay-Mary-Kay thing with me. I think it was around that time I was fretting over getting a pedicure. So, I guess Robert felt it was an opportune moment to swoop in on me with all this gay cosmetic shit... you know, cuz he figured my mind (and sexual orientation) was weak from confusion.

I was just notified that Tod (with one "d") Hunter has also pledged $50 to PAW. Tod is also using the cyber-power of his website, TodHunter.net, to notify porners and others that PAW needs our help. Wowzers! Now we only need 117 more good folks to do the same! Good for you, Tod!
BTW, Tod did something I forgot to do: He provided a mailing address for PAW. (Hmmm.... Maybe I should spend more time without the companionship of my pipe and some Mother Nature. Nah.)
From Tod's website: If you have the slightest interest in keeping this operation on its feet, sit down right now and write a check and send it here:

Kimi Lixx PAW ***UPDATE*** Quasarman in for a C-note!

The adorable Kimi Lixx sent me an email this morning. Kimi wants to help PAW out and she explains why.
Kimi writes: "How does this work? Do I just send my bucks or pledge to send bucks later or what?
PAW has been very good to me. I don't know where I would have gone without Bill Margold helping me out way back when I was fresh and new to the folks in the industry who do mean things to unsuspecting talent. I still remember that day I sat on the steps hoping someone was going to open the door to World Modeling (they were out to lunch when I arrived, of course) because I had nowhere to go and nothing to do after the mean industry person who lured me out with promises of wonderful scenes bailed without a trace. PAW, and Bill, took me in, found me work, showed me the ropes (literally, since some of that work was bondage!), and helped me learn to spot the bad 'uns. I wish the industry took PAW a little more seriously. Every circus needs a safety net. --Kimi Lixx"
jimmyD sez: "Kimi's email is an example of the old adage, "What goes around comes around." Usually, people use that saying to comment on negative shit.. But in this case, what went and is now coming is a good thing. BTW, Kimi, just send your bucks. There's an address at the bottom of the post immediately preceding uhhh.. preceding this 'un. And I think I'll mention--just in case anyone's at all interested--that Kimi can LIxx me anytime she wants! (D'oh!@# . I just had to say that.)

My pal and fellow shooter, Quasarman, who is also a guy who can sometimes be as funny as me, writes in: "Since I still occasionally clutch the bear for both comfort and companionship that Margold gave me during our infamous KSEX debate, I'm down for a hundred. I'm sincerely hoping that all of it goes toward the counsel of some naive starlet on the dangers of mixing xanax, jagermeister and antibiotics and not on an afternoon's supply of Krispy Cremes for Margold. -- Quaze"
jimmyD sez: Hey Quaze! Now, when you hug that teddybear, you're gonna feel even better about yourself! And who knows? A caring, giving, kinder, gentler Q-Man might even this so-called porn life a tad bit easier to swallow. Not that I'm saying you swallow, but, uhh... you know what I mean.

Subject: [FOXE_TAILS] F.O.X.E. Need us all !!!!
F.O.X.E. has been going on for more years than I care to count, I
believe I was the second or maybe third member to join. Through the
years I have made many friends and business contacts. Bill Margold is
one of the hardest working people in the adult industry and I for one
am glad he is constantly fighting for our rights against censorship.
Through out all the years involved with F.O.X.E. I have met
countless numbers of adult talent both good and bad, some have lasted
through the years and some sorry to say hasn't. What I would like
for all to know is that if you are really willing to help out anyway
you can, you will meet and associate with every adult star you ever
heard of providing of course they are still active in the adult
community. You will make unheard of friendships that will last for
years. People like Nina Hartly, Shayla LaVoux, Dee and countless
others are true friends that will go out of there way to be there if
you need them and if you are willing to stand up and "be
counted" as someone who supports the adult industry. It's a
lot of work to keep organizations like F.O.X.E., P.A.W.and Free
Speech Coalition up and running all of these organizations need your
help and support any way you can. Time, money or just dedication is a
way we can all help people like Bill Margold fight for our rights to
remain free in our homes, neighborhoods and in our country.
Lastly thank you so much Bill for opening my mind and exposing me to
all the adult industry has to offer. I have already through the years
countless memories that will last a lifetime.
Thanks Again
Bill LeClair
